The Weird (But Wonderful) Quartet

An odd combination of instruments without a proper name

What makes this such a Weird Quartet?  The instrumentation is extremely unusual: flute and alto flute, violin and viola, guitar and cello.  The combination of the low instruments makes a haunting and beautiful sound. Very few composers have written for this combination of instruments so our repertoire contains arrangements of many different styles and music of many different origins.  Hear it once and you’ll agree it’s Weird (But Wonderful)!
